Georgia Severe Weather Discussion & Forecast for 7/9/13

On Thursday, a front will impact our area. It looks like the front will bring some severe thunderstorms, although they will not be very widespread. Currently, confidence is increasing in a minor severe weather event across northern Georgia, and maybe even central and southern Georgia. Flaso flooding is going to be an enormous concern, due to the extremely saturated grounds and heavy rainfall we had over the past week. Even though additional rainfall will not be high, flash flooding will occur very quickly with storms, and river flooding even quicker.
Below is a graphic, which shows basically what we could be expecting with the front on Thursday. It is preliminary, and will be updated several times.

The main threats will be:
  • 40-60 MPH Strong Winds
  • Small Hail
  • Flash Flooding
  • Heavy Rain
Meanwhile, here is also the forecast for tomorrow for the state.

It looks like there will be summertime afternoon thunderstorms through Wednesday across the state, as well as for next weekend too. Stay tuned to our next update for Georgia tomorrow!
