Very Heavy Rainfall Likely for July 4th
Our NWS says that we will have very heavy rain across the state the next few days, including July 4th. Here is what they say.

LIKELY TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...
...FOURTH OF JULY OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL LIKELY BE IMPACTED...
A STAGNANT...YET VIGOROUS UPPER LEVEL PATTERN IS BRINGING
TOGETHER THE INGREDIENTS FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF THUNDERSTORMS
AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA FOR MUCH
OF THIS WEEK. WARM SOUTHERLY FLOW...RICH IN MOISTURE...IS
DEVELOPING ACROSS FLORIDA AND THE CAROLINAS. AS HIGH PRESSURE
ALOFT OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC AND AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE OVER THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY MOVE WEST...THIS PLUME OF
RICH MOISTURE WILL SHIFT WEST OVER GEORGIA AND REMAIN IN PLACE
TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
COULD RANGE FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH LOCAL AMOUNTS AROUND 5 INCHES
POSSIBLE. FLOODING MAY ALSO OCCUR IF VERY HEAVY RAIN REPEATEDLY
FALLS OVER THE SAME AREAS. IN ADDITION...SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD

Current Severe Weather Outlook for Georgia
Today, most of Georgia is in a Slight Risk for severe weather. However, the extreme west-central portions have an elevated risk for some damaging wind. Below are the Storm prediction Center's Categorical and Damaging Wind Probabilistic outlooks.

- Thunderstorm wind damage 4 miles south of Pulaski. Tree down across Excelsior Church Road near I-16.
- Thunderstorm wind damage 2 miles ESE of Rochester. Tree down on Old Register Way.
- Thunderstorm wind damage 2 miles ESE of Georgia Southern. Tree down on Bunkhalter Road.

Latest Severe Weather Reports Across Georgia
In the early afternoon, a line of storms formed in western Georgia, bringing some strong storms to Peachtree City, and now headed towards Macon. There were a coupe damaging wind reports out of Peachtree City, and one hail report.

- Thunderstorm wind damage reported 1 mile NNE of Peachtree City. Emergency Manager reported a tree blown down blocking Peachtree Parkway north of Highway 54.
- Thunderstorm wind damage 2 miles SSE of Peachtree City. Off duty NWS forecaster reported one tree snapped at the Kroger on Crosstown Boulevard.
Hail Reports:
- 0.75 inch sized hail was reported 1 mile WNW of Peachtree City. Off duty NWS forecaster reported penny-sized hail on Highway 74 at the golf cart bridge.
Current Severe Weather Outlook for Georgia
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk for much of Georgia. However, the Southeast and Northwest parts will experience just general thunderstorms. Below is their outlook for the state.
So far, a weak line of thunderstorms with heavy rain and thunder pushed through Northwest Georgia earlier this morning, but gradually fell apart by now. A few storms in South Georgia are hovering near severe limits, but so far, no severe weather has happened yet in Georgia today.
